Forward of the Assam Meeting polls later this 12 months, state minister Himanta Biswa Sarma mentioned the BJP wouldn’t get any seats in areas dominated by Miya Muslims as they don’t vote for the get together.
“Miya Muslims” didn’t vote for BJP in Panchayat and 2014 Lok Sabha polls, mentioned Mr Sarma, citing his previous expertise.
“Miya Muslims do not vote for us (BJP), I’m saying this on the premise of expertise. They did not vote for us in Panchayat and 2014 Lok Sabha polls. BJP is not going to get votes within the seats which can be of their (Miya Muslims) palms, whereas different seats are ours,” Mr Sarma advised reporters on Saturday.
Gearing up for the Meeting elections, he added, “We are going to subject our candidates in these (Miya Muslims) seats in order that individuals who don’t establish themselves with “Miya Muslims” get an choice to vote for lotus (BJP’s image) or elephant (Asom Gana Parishad’s image).”
The Meeting polls are more likely to be held in April-Might for 126 Meeting seats.
