Blizzard: “No Plans” For Diablo 4 Tab Overlay Map -By Fsk

Blizzard has confirmed that it has “no plans” for a Diablo 4 tab overlay map.

The “automap” tool is a feature from previous Diablo games. In Diablo 1 and 2 it appears as a light overlay in the middle of the screen. Diablo 3 moved the overlay map to the top right corner of the screen, making it a mini-map.

Diablo 4 has had PvP from the start, in case you didn’t know, and several endgame ideas.

However, Diablo 4 features a dedicated mini-map at the top-right corner of the screen, with the Tab button used to display the full map and journal. The game will not feature a tab overlay map as seen in Diablo 1 and 2, Diablo chief Rod Ferguson confirmed on Twitter.

Reaction to the news has been mixed. The tab overlay map is seen by some players as an important navigation aid, while others say it breaks the immersion.

While Blizzard is sticking to its guns on a tabbed overlay map, it has recently confirmed the changes coming to Diablo 4 based on feedback on the open beta.

As Bertie reported yesterday, as expected, barbarians are buffed, and sorcerers and necromancers are disarmed. Blizzard has “optimized” many dungeons in all regions to reduce the need for backtracking.

Diablo 4 launches on June 6 on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
