Diablo 4 Hardcore characters who die in PvP are permanently scarred, Blizzard has indicated.
Adam Fletcher, Blizzard’s director of community, confirmed the feature in a tweet. This means that if your archenemy character dies in PvP, you will have to create a new character.
Diablo veterans will be familiar with the consequences of death when playing a hardcore character. In fact, Blizzard has warned Diablo players in the past that it is in no way responsible for their archenemy characters, and will not restore them under any circumstances.
In Diablo 4, the Hate Zones are locations for PvP, and are entered at the players’ own risk. Here you kill other players and, of course, collect unique resources as well as unique vendors.
One of the toughest challenges in Diablo 4 is definitely the Fearless Combatant, which requires 10 PvP kills in Hardcore mode. I wonder how many hardcore characters I’ll have to give up before I get to 10 kills? A fair few, I imagine.
Blizzard will open up Diablo 4 one more time ahead of its launch in May for “server slam” weekends. Then it’s about the launch in June.
