Elden Ring mod to include Bloodborne-inspired boss -By Fsk

Modding community The Garden of Eyes has revealed the first original boss that will be added to the upcoming mod, the Elden Ring.

The Garden of Eyes Overhaul mod is still in development, but will add unique weapons, armor, spells, and new mechanics in what it calls “fan-made DLC.”

The group’s latest video is a showcase of the new boss Oedon the Primeval Current, which combines the best of the Elden Ring with Bloodborne.

It bears a striking resemblance to the final boss of Elden Beast with its cosmic aesthetic, but there is a reason: Oedon the Primeval Current is one of the “Outer Gods”, mystical beings responsible for many events before and during the game, But never to appear in physical form.

So far. According to the Elden Ring wiki, The Primeval Current is an “enigmatic and mystical force” that has “connections to magic, radiance, and the stars”.

The Garden of Eyes team saw this as an opportunity to delve into the mechanics of the game. And therefore, this external deity is – in their eyes – Odon, one of the blood-born great ones.

“The idea in our mod is that Odeon is actually The Primeval Current, and that it is an external deity from the Elden Ring universe who was able to come into contact with the Bloodborne universe,” explains Video Showcase. “However, he could communicate there only by voice. However, he was able to summon some creatures and some scholars from the bloodborne universe to begin a forbidden ritual to give him supreme power.”

The modders gave Kotaku some more background: “As a way to gain ultimate power, [Oedon] tricked some scholars into Byrgenworth into studying the power of old blood, and that combining it with the power of Glintstone magic is the key to true insight, and allowed them to begin a forbidden ritual between the lands, allowing them to reach His ultimate goal of becoming a Lord of the Cosmic Blood, gaining the power of the Old Blood mixed with the power of Glintstone magic.”

The bloodborne references continue as the boss was inspired by a Lovecraftian god named Yog-Sothoth from the Cthulhu mythos and a new weapon called the Whispering Terror that shifts — bloodborne-style — between blood and glintstone attacks.

As such, the boss comes in two phases: Oedon, Primeval Current and Oedon, Lord of Cosmic Blood.

Of course, the big question is, how strict will the boss be? The team told Kotaku, “Odon is planned to be an end-game boss, so I’ll make it the same difficulty as Malenia.” “However, you have to keep in mind that this is a completely different experience as Melania is more of a humanoid close-combat-focused boss, while it is a large monstrosity with two different styles in two different stages. ”

It’s a truly epic-looking battle that not only combines two of FromSoftware’s finest achievements, but also shows the Garden of Eyes team’s effort and care in staying true to Miyazaki’s vision.

If this is any indication of the rest of the mod, we’re in for a treat.

The Garden of Eye Overhaul mod is available in Early Access for Patreon subscribers, and will be released for free once completed.

As for the official Elden Ring update, the Shadow of Erdtree expansion is in development but its release date is unknown.
