There was firing throughout a conflict between alleged employees of the Trinamool Congress and BJP at Barrackpore in North 24 Parganas on Wednesday when the BJP’s Bijpur candidate Subhranghsu Roy went to file his nomination papers for the West Bengal asembly ballot, police stated.

Mr Roy stated he was heckled when he got here out of the SDO workplace after submitting his papers and stones have been thrown at him.

Autos parked within the space have been broken within the conflict and police resorted to lathicharge to regulate the scenario, an official of the pressure stated.

An individual was detained in reference to the conflict and a firearm was seized, the police stated.

None was injured within the firing, whereas a few individuals have been injured within the conflict, it added.

BJP and the TMC have blamed one another for the conflict and the Election Fee has sought a report on it from the district administration.

Subhrangshu Roy, previously of the TMC, is the son of BJP nationwide vice-president Mukul Roy, who’s himself within the fray from Krishnagar Uttar constituency. Election at Bijpur is slated for April 22.
