This week on the Eurogamer newscast we’re discussing the fallout of today’s dramatic decision by the UK to block Microsoft’s $68.7 billion Activision Blizzard deal, and whether an appeal could still change things.
With the UK regulator issuing a stern warning over how it views the deal affecting competition between cloud gaming companies, it remains to be seen how much Microsoft can do without structurally changing the deal to reassure the UK. can do more. Or, perhaps, is Microsoft saying the UK shouldn’t have given up on it so easily, saying the most straightforward option was to put a hold on the deal?
So, do we think the appeal could still be successful? What else would it take? Joining me to share their thoughts are Eurogamer’s Ed Nightingale and Victoria Kennedy.
