V Rising’s next expansion, Secrets of Glumroot, is due out on May 17th.
The update will be available for free to the three million copies of We Rising that have been sold since its release into Early Access a year ago.
“The update lets players explore Glumroot, a new biome with two unique areas twisted in the pursuit of brutal science,” Stanlock Studios teases. “Hunt the blood of the brilliantly insane to harness the power of electricity and usher in a new age of technology.”
And “the developers don’t stop there”, adds a new press release. Castle building will be “dramatically improved” – “allowing for the construction of multiple floors, claiming castle territories, and adding more ways to customize your domains” – while also adding in a larger selection of weapon types. There would also be improved combat, a new magic school, and the ability for players to “modify their spells to their liking with the jewel system”.
Players can also expect a new world of Vardoran, with more locations to visit, better graphics, new items, and new enemy types.
There will also be a total of 13 additional bosses to hunt down to gain new dark knowledge, the team teases.
“V Rising is very popular at the moment and if you spend half an hour with it, it’s not hard to understand why,” Bertie wrote in his brilliant feature, “V Rising is delicious but best eaten with friends.”
“It’s such a tempting idea like it was in Dungeon Keeper all those years ago. Be badass! Well yes please! Or in this case, specifically: Be a vampire who reawakens after many years to May he find the land they once dominated. Plagued the humans, and now you’re going to take it back.”
